A few new paintings

Down the Street & Around the Corner

These were done in the last month or so. I've found these lovely linen covered boards, that are delicious to paint on.

This one's included in the tutors exhibition along with one of my Bondi pastels.

This is a little experiment with oil pastels...I found this great fun to do and I've gone & acquired a few more, so I can play with them. It has a looser freer feeling to me.
After all the rain it's been a wonderful treat to do some 'plein air' soft pastels in Centennial Park on Sundays.
This is a detail from the last one.
Had fun doing this continuous line charcoal drawing. I love working with charcoal.
This painting was selected to be hung in the Waverley Art Prize along with the charcoal drawing of pots of brushes. It's great to get a couple in!

I've done this to enter in the Hunters Hill Art exhibition,
in the 9"x5" section as I thought that would be a bit of fun. This is the tiny park I do Tai Chi in & sometimes I find I have doggie amigos join me. This 'Staffie' was a regular. Very well behaved.

This was hard to get it to go how I wanted, acrylics not being my 1st choice medium but time precluded oils. It has to be in by the weekend for the Pyrmont Art Prize. I've already had an offer to buy which is a real thrill. It was certainly worth doing. Really loving doing still lifes!!!

Here's the latest portrait in the series.... Candace on her birthday! It's done in cobalt violet, light red, yellow ochre, pthalo green, burnt umber and white only. Another limited palette; I feel that it has come up well for just those colours. It's amazing what can be achieved. One more left to do now and I'll have completed 12.
Have had the gauntlet thrown down in the form of a new challenge, to do a farm yard series!?!

A lazy Sunday, late afternoon, John's communing with Ra who likes to read as well by sitting on your shoulder, your arm or the book in your lap. He acquires all information via osmoses, a most remarkable cat!

This is for you Sue....the first sketch of your chooks & Guinea fowl.
Like the chooks the best, more movement...the Guineas are a bit static. Had lots of fun though.

Here's another version of the 1st one I did. Slightly different perspective that's all. I'm still thinking about other variations, I like to let ideas percolate a bit.

Here are a couple more ideas on the theme. I'm trying to give the feeling of movement...the push & shove of arriving & going, while those inside are waiting, static. The bottom one is the anticipation just before the action. I want to do some inside concepts but I think I need a trip or two to get a new angle.
